Dublin ranked 17th in reputation index
Dublin has been ranked as the 17th most reputable city in the world, out-manoeuvring locations such as Frankfurt, New York, San Francisco and Brussels on the latest City RepTrak list.
The study, produced annually by the Reputations Agency and Reputation Institute, found that Sydney remains the city with the best global reputation.
The index – now in its seventh year – ranks cities based on trust, esteem, admiration and ‘good feeling’.
Dublin’s position is its highest ever ranking. It achieved a score of 77.57 out of 100, compared to Sydney’s 82.29. Second-place Copenhagen scored 81.53, while third-place Vienna scored 79.81. Sydney is the top city where people would like to live, work and visit. Copenhagen was ranked 10th last year.
The study gathered data through an online survey of 23,000 members of the general public in the G8 countries – Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the UK and the US. Only people who were “somewhat” or “very” familiar with the cities are selected to rate them.
“By understanding the global perceptions of Dublin, our leaders and policy makers can identify the capital’s competitive strengths and points of differentiation,” said Niall Quinn, deputy managing director at the Reputations Agency.
