Irish entrepreneur initiative adds another €5,000 to winnings in hunt for your bright ideas
An initiative that aims to encourage and support Irish entrepreneurs has thrown a little more bait in the pool to entice more ambitious minds.
Social Entrepreneurs Ireland are now adding an extra €5,000 to the winnings that applicants can vie for as part of their 2017 Awards Programme
The DCC supported project recognises and rewards the most innovative ideas and energetic entrepreneurs to solve social problems here.
Following in the footsteps of success stories such as FoodCloud’s Iseult Ward and Aoibheann O’Brien, the top eight entrepreneurs are offered an immediate €10,000 in unrestricted funding, a place on an accelerator programme worth €15,000, with access to over 150 pro-bono supporters, coaches and mentors.
The programme will explore options for further funding and support from Social Entrepreneurs Ireland, which historically ranges from €20,000 to €300,000 in value.
While the group already announced that 15 entrants with early-stage ideas will win a place at the Academy for Social Entrepreneurs at the official launch last month, there is now more money in the pot to play for.
With the application deadline of March 29 approaching, the organisation has announced that these fifteen winners will now also have a chance to pitch for up to €5,000 in funding to get their idea off the ground
CEO Darren Ryan said that Social Entrepreneurs Ireland are offering more places on the programmes than ever before – and there has been increased interest from financial supporters, adding to the existing funds available for the winners of this round.
“We’ve seen how the support from the commercial business sector can assist social entrepreneurs in making a huge impact across Irish society, and we rely on this support to make this change happen,” he said.
